Vision Instruments and University of Michigan propose innovative approach to facilitate introduction of "Hydrogen Economy". Approach to facilitate Hydrogen Economy would save billions in infrastructure, vehicle changeover costs. Proposal submitted to DOE's "Grand Challenge" for hydrogen research.

Vision Instruments, a privately held concern, and the University of Michigan’s Department of Mechanical Engineering, have proposed an alternative energy economy to the United States Department of Energy. Professor Arvind Atreya of the University of Michigan is Co-Principal Investigator on the proposal, along with Jim Beyer of Vision Instruments. The University of Michigan is a leading energy researcher, particularly for vehicle applications. The University’s Automotive Research Center (ARC) and the Walter E. Lay Automotive Laboratory are leading research labs for vehicle technologies.
