Firefly glow: Scientists develop a hydrogen peroxide probe based on firefly luciferin
Saturday, February 26th, 2011Scientists have developed a probe for monitoring hydrogen peroxide levels in mice that enables them to track the progression of cancerous tumors or infectious diseases without harming the animals or even having to shave their fur. This new probe is based on luciferase, the enzyme that gives fireflies their glow.

HRL Receives Award to Continue Investigations into Hydrogen Storage Materials
Friday, February 25th, 2011HRL Laboratories, LLC, has been awarded a two-year, Phase 2 contract from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to develop solid-state hydrogen storage materials that meet or exceed the goals for on-board, reversible hydrogen storage established by the DOE’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy and the U.S. FreedomCAR Program.
